The Dentsply Student Clinician Program was first presented in 1959 at the American Dental Association Congress in New York. Following its great success in America, it was consequently introduced into various countries around the world.
Implemented in France in 1997, the Program, organised each year by the French Dental Association with the support of Dentsply International, is open to all French dental students who have graduated in the previous two years. The candidates selected for the award are asked to prepare a table clinic to present their qualifying degree thesis during the ADF Congress in November, before a scientific jury selected for the purpose by the French Dental Association.
A table clinic is not an essay, lecture or exhibit but a table top demonstration of a method of orofacial therapy – each candidate has no more than 15 minutes to demonstrate preventive, restorative, surgical or diagnostic procedures, or present dental material and devices.
The three winners are awarded cash prizes, and the laureate is also invited to attend the American Dental Association scientific session – all expenses paid – to show his/her work and represent France in the ADA / Dentsply Student Clinician Program, in competition with dental students from all over the world.
