
The ADF Governing Bodies

The General Assembly brings together delegates from all the member organisations and defines the ADF’s action plan. It adopts the progress report submitted by the Secretaries General, as well as the financial report, and the provisional budget for the next financial year. It also sets the annual membership dues.

The Governing Board consists of representatives from the member organisations. It elects the Executive Board and decides on the composition of the Committees. It also proposes topics and issues for the Committees to work on, and approves the Commission’s reports.

The Executive Board is composed of 12 members (4 ex-officio, 8 elected for a 3-year period). It is responsible for the implementation of the ADF’s policy and action plan after approval by the Governing Board.

Six Staturory Committees
Each Statutory Committee includes seven to twelve full members and conducts work on the main technical, legal and institutional areas involving the ADF. The Statutory Committees draw up reports for consideration by the Governing Board . At present, the ADF has six statutory committees.

Three Advisory Committees
The Advisory Committees work in a similar way to the Statutory Committees, but they are set up to deal with specific problems. The ADF currently has three Advisory Committees: the Medical Devices Committee, the International Affairs Committee, and the Committee for Quality.

Day-to-day organisation of the Association
The budget of the French Dental Association is provided both by the dues paid by its member organisations, and by the revenue generated by its various activities.
The elected officers of the ADF (i.e. the members of the Governing Board, of the Executive Board and of the Committees) are all members of organisations affiliated to the ADF. The amount of time each devotes to the management of the Association depends on his or her responsibilities. The day-to-day running of the French Dental Association is taken care of by an additional staff of sixteen people.
